Two of Mexico’s most distinguished performers of early and traditional music. Franco, an internationally acclaimed recorder virtuoso, blends Baroque, classical, and Indigenous repertoire with contemporary sensibilities, while Ortega, a highly regarded harpsichordist, is celebrated for the precision and refinement of his interpretations. Together, they create a musical dialogue that bridges cultures and eras, offering audiences a unique sonic experience.

Musicians:

  • Horacio Franco – recorder
  • Daniel Ortega – harpsichord

Program:

The concert features European Baroque works by Johann Heinrich Schmelzer, Tomasso Antonio Vitali, Johann Kaspar Ferdinand Fischer, Johann Sebastian Bach, Louis Antoine Dornel, and Antonio Vivaldi, alongside the contemporary piece Encantamiento by Daniel Catán. These compositions are interwoven with traditional Mexican dances and melodies from Puebla, Papantla, the Yaqui community, the Tzotzil, and the Cora, taking the audience on a musical journey that transcends centuries and cultures.

This concert is presented by the Embassy of Mexico to the Kingdom of Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and the Mission of Mexico to the European Union. Admission is free, but registration is required.
