Quand harpe, violon et accordéon se rencontrent
Isabelle Chardon, Sophie Hallynck, and Christophe Delporte - three professors at the Institut Supérieur de Musique et de Pédagogie in Namur (IMEP) - join forces to form the Phalaena Trio, a refined and elegant ensemble.
The name Phalaena, meaning “butterfly,” evokes lightness, grace, and renewal. Their unique blend of harp, violin, and bayan (concert accordion) creates a fresh and captivating sound palette with an eclectic repertoire. From Bach to Ravel, including Satie, Saint-Saëns, and De Falla, the trio captivates audiences with their exceptional musical chemistry.
Once underestimated as a folk instrument, the accordion here reveals its full expressive richness, thanks to these three musicians who shatter clichés. Their music, sometimes joyful and sometimes deeply moving, reflects life’s many facets and invites listeners to reconsider their assumptions.
