In this workshop, the artist and participants will be focusing on the relationship between vibration and body, sound and silence, listening and feeling, time and space.
Sound perception is not merely an auditory experience, but rather a cross-modal process in which the whole body is called to participate. Starting from this idea, we will investigate the possibility of a multisensory experience of sound as an accessible way of engagement for Deaf and hard of hearing people.
Open to deaf and hearing participants alike, this workshop relies on our bodies’ ability to perceive vibrations through touch. Through listening, reflection, and proprioceptive exercises, we will engage a multisensory mode of perception to deepen awareness of the self and the surrounding environment. Valuing the uniqueness of each individual, participants will be invited to generate and sculpt sound vibrations using electronic musical instruments. By co-creating the waves for themselves and others, participants will help shape a collective experience that is accessible to everyone.
