Grażyna Bacewicz

Karski Quartet & Raphaël Feye

Traces Festival 2026 – Music Full of Hope
As part of the Chamber Music Festival Traces, the MIM presents three exceptional concerts celebrating music that was born in challenging times, yet never lets hope fade.
The concert on March 4 brings to life two masterpieces of the chamber music repertoire. Grażyna Bacewicz’s String Quartet No. 4, written in 1951 after the Second World War, is a masterclass in resilience. The work balances neoclassical clarity with a deeply personal voice, weaving intimate melodies with lively rhythms and carrying a sense of hope.
Luigi Boccherini’s string quintets are true treasures of the repertoire, celebrating both Spanish tradition and Italian elegance. Op.40/1 “Folias de España” enchants with a minuet trio based on the legendary folia, a hypnotic, repeating harmonic sequence that has inspired composers for centuries. Op.51/1, performed here for the first time, reveals rich textures and a lyrical, conversational interplay between the instruments.
