An Introduction to Jazz
"I don’t understand jazz at all!"
"Do you improvise from start to finish?"
"Is improvising just playing randomly?"
To celebrate International Jazz Day, Les Lundis d’Hortense is teaming up with the MIM to invite you to a unique and accessible event. Discover jazz through some of its most iconic instruments and be surprised by its fascinating world!
On April 30, go behind the scenes of a piece of music: how it begins, how it’s structured, where the theme and solos come in… Ask the musicians your questions and follow step by step how a jazz piece unfolds. Through concrete examples, you’ll understand its structure and learn to listen to it in a new way.
Musicians:
- Bruno Grollet – saxophone
- Martin Salemi – Fender Rhodes
- Gaëtan Casteels – double bass
- Nicolas Chkifi – drums
The performances take place in the free-access section of the MIM, at 2:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m.
Take the opportunity to combine this experience with a visit to the museum!
