Exhibition of antique cellos

During the final week of the Queen Elisabeth Competition, which is dedicated to the cello this year, two collectors will be showcasing several exceptional instruments from their collections in the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM)’s Art Nouveau section.

These include cellos by renowned luthiers such as Carlo Tononi, Giuseppe Guarneri, and Francesco Goffriller, to name just a few. This is a unique opportunity to view these instruments up close and perhaps even try them out. Unlike the pieces in the MIM’s permanent collection, these historical instruments are fully playable.

The cellos can be admired during the museum’s opening hours. Testing the instruments is possible by appointment, which can be arranged via email.
