the concert hall
On the eighth floor is a concert hall with 200 seats. This hall was built from scratch in the neoclassical part of the mim. Because the audience sits in a semi-circle around the artists as in a small Greek amphitheatre, the atmosphere is intimate. Amplification is rarely an issue, precisely because of the direct contact between the performer, his instrument and the audience. Most concerts are recorded. These recordings are interesting for the artists, but also for our educational services and soundscapes in the exhibition halls. The mim concert archives now contain 400 CDs. The concert hall also serves as a recording studio for the mim's own CDs which are on sale in the museum shop.
You can hire the concert hall for events, meetings, conferences and private functions. This is often done in combination with the restaurant. Click here or call +32 2 741 73 48.
On average there are 130 musical events every year at the mim. They usually take place in the concert hall, but often also in the exhibition rooms themselves. For suggestions of concert programs, please contact the programmer. You will find the full schedule of events on the calendar.
