Opening concert #2 for SAX200: Swiss and Belgian military bands

The second, free concert during the SAX200 inaugural weekend is a double bill. A Swiss army band performs on period instruments (saxotrombas and the like) music that was played both by Carafa's and Adolphe Sax's wind bands during the contest on the Champ de Mars in Paris held in order to decide which way the reform of the French military music chapels would go. No suprise: Sax won. Complementing this unique Swiss project, the excellent saxophone section of the Belgian Royal Music Chapel of the Guides plays a varied, 20th-C. program.
