Cornets are relatively recent in the history of music. They appeared in Paris in the early 1830s and were a huge success, first playing at balls, then in orchestras, wind orchestras and brass bands. The mim collection of over 50 cornets is representative of the instrument's evolution until the 20th century, from the earliest examples with two piston valves to those used in the first jazz bands.
